Originality of the AC75 design edit

This page has been edited to describe the AC75 design as "unique". This is an error. I added a reference to an earlier design that shows the AC75 is unoriginal.

My changes were removed and the earlier inaccuracy was re-introduced.

It has since been corrected.

My reading of the sentence was that the word "unique" was meant to indicate "unique in the history of the America's Cup," which certainly is true. The sentence makes considerably less sense now because there's no motivating reason for mentioning the features. The claim that the design is "covered" by the patent sounds like original research unless you can cite a court case that decided the AC75 class infringes it (and despite the multiple patent numbers, it's a single design). This is the first I've read of any patent claims, so it certainly doesn't merit such prominent mention in the article. Out of curiousity - what is your relationship to this patent? as I wrote the words in the article I had intended the word "unique" to designate the combination of all three subsequently worded features, and it is my understanding that no large yacht (as opposed to dinghies) has been created combining any of the three features (topside drums for foils, double skin mainsail, no central appendage like a keel or ballasted centerboard)
Mr. Chaves' patent certainly provides a drawing that includes a topside drum, but the absence other requirements certainly allows the claim to be investigated, but does not change the unique design of the AC75, of which there are now seven active vessels. The word "unique" deserves to be retained, at least with a more precise wording than in the present article signed:Donan Raven (talk, contribs) 12:30, 27 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
I have amended the wording to include the word unique and provide for the outstanding claims.signed:Donan Raven (talk, contribs) 13:06, 27 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
