Clarification in 2005 season section

edit

The paragraph:

"Incidentally, although in his remarks, Burnett criticized McKeon for not allowing the team's less experienced players to have much playing time, McKeon decided to let rookie Josh Johnson, a September callup from the Class AA Carolina Mudcats, make his first major-league start of his career on September 30, 2005. Previously, Burnett was scheduled to make his last start of the year at that game."

has an awful run-on sentence that is difficult to understand without re-reading it. I split it into two sentences and modified it so that it does not directly state that McKeon's actions had nothing to do with Burnett's comments. Speculation is bad, but it is worse when it is stated as if it were fact. Without a good source saying that McKeon's decision had nothing to do with Burnett's comment, we can only assume. Disambiguation

edit

I've moved the player's bio page to Allen James Burnett and create a disambig since there is another person with the name "A.J. Burnett" –BuickCenturyDriver 07:14, 28 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

I've decided to change the disambig to a redirect, with a note and link to Andrew John Burnett. Comments? –BuickCenturyDriver 07:25, 28 February 2009 (UTC)Reply
As I've already mentioned elsewhere, this is pretty much outright ridiculous. A well-known sports figure does not need to be disambiguated from a local weatherman. -Dewelar (talk) 07:32, 28 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Suspension

edit

I don't think that it should say that Burnett "answered back" at the hits by throwing it near Cruz's head, it was obviously not intentional to throw it near his head, no one would be stupid enough to throw a fastball near someone's face on purpose. 71.185.49.253 (talk) 18:57, 4 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

2003 World Series champion?

edit

According to this article, Burnett missed most of the 2003 season after undergoing Tommy John surgery early on in the season. Yet, the infobox says that he was on the roster of the 2003 World Series champions, his then-team, the Florida Marlins. I understand that he could've still been on Marlins' MLB roster when they won the World Series, but if he had a season-ending surgery early on the season, he likely would've been on the 60-day disabled list, which would remove him from the Marlins' 40-man roster for that season. This article doesn't have any sources showing that he was, in fact, on their active roster when they won the 2003 World Series. Can anybody find a source for this? Yankees Expert (talk) 21:25, 17 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

You're right. According to WP:BASEBALL consensus, that should only be in the infobox for players on the active roster. I forgot he wasn't a participant in that World Series. – Muboshgu (talk) 23:19, 17 February 2012 (UTC)Reply
