Talk:A.L.A. Catalog

  • As one of the librarians around here, I was asked to comment on the article.

The ALA Catalog is certainly notable, and the article I think is acceptable but there are some improvments that would be advisable. It is not considered good style here to compose an article out of a string of quotations, but it would be better to write it in compact prose, using quotations only for selected key portions.

Additionally, it would be very helpful to place this in historical context: especially with respect to later selected booklists. And perhaps there should be a range of references to oter discussions of the List , from such sources as the various editions of Winchell & standard textbooks. I'd also add some more internal links to other articles--even if there is someone or something mentioned who is probably notable but we don't have an article for yet, a link is helpful--it shows where an article would be needed. And the List is out of copyright so there should be a free version available on Internet Archive or the like to be linked to as an external link. DGG ( talk ) 18:43, 28 March 2012 (UTC)Reply
