Move to ETO edit

The article says the unit deployed to the ETO after discussing accelerated B-24 training that it attributes to Seond Air Force concentrating on B-29 training.

It is accurate that Second Air Force ramped up B-29 training in 1944, but B-17 and B-24 training continued till the end of the war, and only in 1945 was any of the training transferred to other air forces.
The article as written imples the 862d took its Liberators to Europe. Note that this conflicts with the aircraft flown, which shows the unit glew B-17s during its combat tour.
I believe that the unit transferred to the ETO on paper only and was reformed from existing assets in the ETO, which is what Maurer says for the 493d Bombardment Group in Maurer, Maurer, ed. (1983) [1961]. Air Force Combat Units of World War II (PDF) (reprint ed.). Washington, DC: Office of Air Force History. ISBN 0-912799-02-1. LCCN 61060979. B class review edit

In World War II/Initial activation: "It was not until January..." It is unclear what year this is (1944?). The infobox says the squadron formed in 1943 and the narrative probably should say that. Djmaschek (talk) 02:04, 11 September 2020 (UTC)Reply

@Djmaschek: Corrected. Actually, it was January 1944. Thanks for the pointer. --Lineagegeek (talk) 16:39, 11 September 2020 (UTC)Reply
