editThe caption to this photograph, linked from a family history website ,http://www.austenfamily.org/WH_Free.html>, is incorrectly captioned.
It's worth noting that the photo linked from Wikimedia Commons omits the date reference: 'c.1850.'
Evidence from the uniforms shown point to a date after 1857. The Austen family website gives the location as Auckland, the source of the undated photo being the Auckland War Museum. https://www.austenfamily.org/william-henry-free/
As the 58th left New Zealand in 1859, the most accurate caption would be 1857-59. JF42 (talk) 12:58, 17 October 2017 (UTC)
