Not Airborne edit

The 35th Signal Brigade is no longer an airborne unit. The patch no longer has the airborne tab above it since it lost its designation as an airborne unit.

Paratroopers edit

Soldiers in the 35th were not Paratroopers. The were on airborne status, but did not regularly train for any airborne operation. Only Soldiers from the 82nd Airborne Division are Paratroopers. Corps Soldiers may be called parachutists (not capitalized like Solider and Paratrooper).

  • I'll have to share that information with those serving in the 4th BCT (Abn), 25th Inf Div; the 173d ABCT in Germany and Italy, and those assigned to separate rigger, pathfinder, LRS, ranger and SF units, etc. I'm sure they'd like to find out that they're not really paratroopers, that the title only belongs to the 82nd. —Preceding unsigned comment added by VilePig (talkcontribs) 18:33, 1 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Within 60 seconds... edit

BS - There is no way to establish comms within 60 seconds of hitting the drop zone, either physically (assuming you're speaking of a PSC-5 or PRC-117 based on the distance) or procedurally. As soon as you hit the DZ, you must FIRST remove yourself from the parachute harness and put your weapon into operation. You have to get the radio out, set up the satellite antenna, and get comms. That takes longer than 60 seconds. In fact, the 82nd Airborne Division standard is to have comms up by a certain time - NOT within 60 seconds though. A 35th Soldier doesn't have the mission to set up comms on a drop zone anyway - yeah, the Corps Assault CP theoretically would do that if the Corps Commander did an airborne op into combat. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 214.13.167.254 (talk) 13:41, 8 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

  • Thanks for letting the whole goddamn world know what the SOP is! How about next time you keep it to yourself! Jerry G. Sweeton Jr. 15:58, 8 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
It's unclassified info so the whole goddamn world knows anyway. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 214.13.167.254 (talkcontribs)
Relax, dude. Nothing the XVIII Corps does is that important anyways. Parsecboy 16:04, 8 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
