In the trivia section there was a remark that the opening riff is virtually identical to Dio's Stand up and Shout. I have removed this as it is not true... Stand up and shout is C then B, and 2 Minutes is C, D... The remark was someones opinion based on the rhythm structure and not the actual music. --Kurtvw (talk) 08:35, 2 January 2009 (UTC)

Similarly, after a little more looking around I have removed the remark about the opening riff being nearly identical to Venom's 'Welcome to hell'. For the same reasons I removed the Dio reference, while the style might sound similar, the riff is certainly different. --Kurtvw (talk) 03:58, 23 February 2009 (UTC)

Perhaps "in a dim world" should be replaced with "during the Cold War".

The cover

There are flags of nations that were at war around the time (or were just troublesome) when the record was released (I could recognize the Soviet Union, Afghanistan, a flag that seems like Iran's , United Kingdom, Argentina, United States, Israel and Cuba), all at half mast, and the way the flags are lined make the ruined building look like the UN... or is it just me? Anyway, can anyone lend me a hand in elaborating this? Confusing Text 12:27, 1 February 2007 (UTC)

Golden Goose?

Can someone tell me what the "Golden Goose" symolizes? 70.244.76.98 14:33, 12 May 2007 (UTC)

It was a fable, I think. There was a goose who laid golden eggs, so the goose's owner said "I know, I'll kill it, and get ALL the gold inside it. I'll be even richer!" So he kills the goose, opens it up,a nd its a normal goose inside. So now all he's left with is the eggs that were alredy laid, and a dead goose, and no way of getting any more golden eggs.

Or are you looking for more in the context of the song?

Earth's History as a Clock

Hey, I was looking at a diagram that compares the entire history of Earth and I noticed that modern humans appear at 11:58 p.m., which is two minutes to midnight . I wonder if this has any thing to do with inspiring the song, or is just a coincedence.

If this is the one you mean, I'd take it with a grain of salt. Everyone knows the dawn of time happens at dawn. We're just used to accepting the beginning of a day is the middle of the night because we heard it made sense from someone we trusted. InedibleHulk (talk) 04:17, 9 July 2018 (UTC)
