A simplified explanation of the Canadiens-Monahan trade condition
editCourtesy of a Discord user:
- 2024: CGY's 1st is top-19 protected. If CGY's pick is within top 19, MTL's pick shifts to 2025. (this already happened)
- 2025a: If CGY receives FLA's 2025 1st, MTL gets the better of the two. Both are top-10 protected.
- If one is top-10 and the other is not, MTL gets the non-top-10 pick.
- If both are top 10, MTL's pick shifts to 2026.
- 2025b: If CGY does NOT receive FLA's 2025 1st, CGY's is top-1 protected. If CGY gets #1 overall, MTL's pick shifts to 2026.
- 2026: MTL gets the better of CGY or FLA's 1sts (2025a), or just CGY's 1st (2025b).
@Deadman137, figure may be worth having this to refer back to whenever this nightmare of a condition wraps itself up. The Kip (contribs) 09:07, 22 June 2024 (UTC)
