Overall:
Pass/Fail:

  ·   ·   ·

  • The season ended with the team missing the MLS Cup Playoffs for the first time in the league, snapping a 13-year streak—among the longest in professional North American sports. This reads as if the streak was one of the longest-ever streaks in US sports, which is not the case. Also, the cited article does not mention North American sports, and doesn't fully back up the second part of the claim.
    • Fixed, and added a source to back up the North American claim (though in the original source it just says "pro sports" and inference would do the rest).
  • Four Sounders players were called up to international teams for the 2022 FIFA World Cup: forward Jordan Morris and midfielder Cristian Roldan for the United States; defeander Nouhou for Cameroon; and defender Xavier Arreaga for Ecuador. fix "defender"
    • Fixed.
  • The 2023 season is the first with jersey sponsor Providence Health & Services. is -> was (MOS:TENSE)
    • Fixed.
  • It is also the first under a broadcast is -> was (MOS:TENSE)
    • Fixed.
  • A limited number of MLS matches were also broadcast on U.S. television by Fox Sports. nit: worth mentioning how many Seattle matches were to be broadcast on Fox (6)
    • Addded.
  • The club's two SuperDraft picks, forward Eythor Bjørgolfsson and defender Blake Bowen, were signed by reserve side Tacoma Defiance but continued to train with the first team. Source references Blake being in first-team preseason, but I don't see anything supporting Bjorgolfsson having trained with the first team.
    • Source states that both picks trained with the first team during preseason; rephrased to use past tense.
      • Ah I see that now, looks good
  • The Sounders opened their training camp at Starfire Sports in Tukwila on January 4, 2023, with no injured outfield players following the return of João Paulo and Obed Vargas. This is ambiguous if you don't know when J.P. and Vargas were injured or exactly when they returned (i.e. they were injured last year and were healthy for pre-season vs. they were injured January 4th but after they got healthy, all outfield players were healthy). This could be split into two sentences, maybe: "The Sounders opened their training camp at Starfire Sports in Tukwila on January 4, 2023. The team had no injured outfield players, as Joao Paulo and Obed Vargas returned from long-term injury which kept them out of much of the 2022 season.
    • Rephrased by kept as a single sentence.
  • The Sounders moved to Marbella, Spain, in late January as part of preparations for the FIFA Club World Cup hosted in Morocco the following month. comma after "Spain" is unnecessary
  • There, the club played in split scrimmages on I'm not sure what a split scrimmage is- this should be clarified.
    • Reworded.
  • The team were eliminated from the tournament, but qualified for the expanded 2025 FIFA Club World Cup as one of four CONCACAF entrants. Reads as if the 2025 qualification was caused by their performance in this tournament. Clarify qualification method.
    • Fixed.
  • The team earned a 4–0 win Worth noting that this was the biggest win of the season.
  • ..by Fredy Montero, who had returned to the Sounders for an additional year. Not clear why the last bit is important. If you keep it, need to make clear why 2022 was an "additional year" for Montero, rather than just another year.
    • Added contract length.
  • ...their first on the road since July 2022 -> their first win on the road...
    • Being right after "victory", I don't think it's necessary to repeat.
  • win over the LA Galaxy in Southern California MOS:CAPS on Southern California, but I think it makes more sense to just specify Carson, California.
    • Replaced with stadium and city.
  • without starting injured midfielders Cristian Roldan and Albert Rusnák. Awkward use of adjectives, recommend "without starting midfielders Crstian Roldan and Albert Rusnak, who were injured"
    • Fixed.
  • the shift in momentum to his substitution of Léo Chú Substituting him in or out of the game?
    • Fixed by adding Héber.
  • , who won the Heritage Cup as a result. I think this article needs context as to what the Heritage Cup actually is. I think mentioning that (and the Cascadia Cup) in a sentence in the lead would be sufficient.
    • Link is sufficient, but if needed I can just get rid of it; the Heritage Cup is very minor in the grand scheme of things.
      • I don't feel strongly on this, so definitely keep the mention.
  • On Decision Day,... nit: If you can find a reliable source discussing what was at stake for the Sounders or St Louis CITY SC, that'd be a valuable addition here. Something like "Sounders could clinch 2nd with a win, or fall to as low as Xth with a loss".
    • Great idea, I've added a source with a nice table.
  • MLS Cup Playoffs (1) Because the section title doesn't contain the month (which is fine), there's no time reference point for the reader. Could you add dates, or time references, for the matches in this section? (2) No mention of the international break. Not sure if any Sounders got called up, but it did contribute to a lengthy break between games.
    • Fixed.
  • Referee Ted Unkel was criticized for his officiating during the match Criticized by whom? (It's Ted Unkel, so "everyone" is probably a safe answer...)
    • Added.
  • FIFA Club World Cup This needs a section (briefly) explaining the format, similar to the other sections.
    • Added.
  • MLS Cup Playoffs Same note as above.
    • Added.
  • A base salary cap of $5.21 million applied to the non-supplemental players This is a decent simple explanation of the roster rules, but I think you state this too definitively. "...with exceptions for the club's three..." -> "...with exceptions, including for the club's three..."
    • Fixed.
  • The Sounders also had two available international slots that... I think this needs context on where the other five went. Maybe that fits best in transfers?
    • Fixed.
  • Transfers This first paragraph could use more detail, see 2020 Seattle Sounders FC season#Transfers
    • Added.
  • Heber transfer in table Add transfer value
    • Added.
  • Aftermath Probably worth mentioning Lodeiro's destination.
    • Added.

Earwig looks good for this, and the article structure looks good. All sources look reliable, and the ones I've fact checked have generally been good (except the ones I've mentioned above). Putting this on hold to give you a chance to respond to the above, but should be good to promote soon.
