I have restored the card information in the football box, since red cards are rare events in a football match and that too for small tournament like SAFF. One of the football box template have the parameters of "sent-off" and have been thus used in various article across Wikiproject Football. However, if someone wish to remove this sourced information from the article they need to have a consensus on it, which seems it not established yet. This topic has been discussed twice at the football project but was futile and no consensus was there. Thank you. Drat8sub (talk) 13:06, 29 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
A red card is not a goal, so why on earth should it be in the goals1 or goals2 parameter? I know multiple other football articles have red cards wrongly listed this way, but that doesn't make it acceptable or sensible. Goals parameters are for goals only. @Joseph2302:, check this Template:Football box collapsible, have the sent off parameters there and thus used in many articles. I agree with you goals mean goals, and I have seen your comment here Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Football/Archive 149. This discussion along with this discussion Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Football/Archive 39 seems futile to achieve a consensus of removing the card info. For a reader, it does not matter what's in the background. It gives more insight into the topic that is the concerned matches as they have more information. A reader will not bother how the goals are showing or how the red cards are showing. So, we need a clear consensus at the Football Project along with update of both the Templates with a separate parameter for adding card information like that of goals, atleast red card which is very rare.
