Speculation regarding Messi

I know this may sound very silly considering how he has never announced political ambitions, but there has been substantial speculation among the Argentine media over Messi running for president- perhaps jokingly or by tabloids, but speculation regardless. He's currently polling above all other candidates and has had multiple pieces written about the possibility, so I added him to the article. At least until he denies any interest. You are right: it does sound very silly. It's not just that Messi never voiced any political ambitions. He is not an active politician either, and has a successful sports career... in Europe. A retired sportsman, as Messi will be in some years, may get into politics if he wants, but an active one would have to basically end his career right now (just running for office is a full-time job). If there was even a rumor of Messi having plans to retire early, we would know it. As for the sources, the one from Daily Post is a classic clickbait article. The one from El American shows a clear lack of knowledge of the current political landscape of Argentina. Other than the current high inflation mentioned in passing, it does not mention any of the current actual problems in Argentina or the political groups he would have to interact with (either to join or oppose); instead we get rants about the military, Juan and Eva Perón, Che Guevara, the "Granary of the World" myth and other stuff that is ancient history by now. The poll from the Cronista is just that, a trivia poll, and not even themselves take those results seriously. If we check the actual news from Clarín, La Nación, TN and Infobae, some of the biggest news outlets from Argentina, nobody is considering Messi for president. Grabois

As far as I know, Grabois Launched his campaign, and it also says so in the spanish version of the article(https://www.telam.com.ar/notas/202303/622153-grabois-candidatura-presidente-argentina-humana.html), whilst Rossi is not listed as officially running. Is there any way to enlarge the candidate's images in the mobile versions?

Chamber of Deputies and Senate results

Why no final results yet?

Just plain and sheer incompetence. It's Argentina ruled by Peronism. A year and half later, we're still counting the results of the 2022 census. Not to mention the economic crisis, way worse than countries in wartime. What makes you think they can even hold elections without problems? They didn't even realize that the ballotage coincided with the date of a national holiday, until we we're less than a month from it. Cambalachero (talk) 12:48, 27 November 2023 (UTC)
