Deferred elections edit

Just to flag, there are deferred elections taking place in two wards, totalling six cllrs, due to candidate deaths:

26 May: Redbridge, Mayfield (3). Countermanded poll due to the death of one of the Conservative candidates. 23 June: Kingston, New Malden Village (3). Countermanded Poll due to the death of Mary Clark (No Description) Croydon, South Croydon. Jason Perry (Con) unable to take his seat due to also being elected Mayor.

My thoughts are that the winners/results in these two wards should be added to the totals when they take place as they are deferred elections not by-elections. Guyb123321 (talk) 13:17, 22 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

South Croydon is slightly different - this one is a by-election rather than deferred and as a result should be counted in the Conservative total.

Political control in boroughs with DEM. edit

Croydon’s result represents the second time the Mayoral result in a Borough differs from the council result. (Tower Hamlets in 2014 being the first).

Other bodies such as London Councils (https://www.londoncouncils.gov.uk/who-runs-london/london-local-elections/2022-london-election-results) show these boroughs as being controlled by the Mayor’s party owing to the realities of the Mayoral system meaning that the Mayor effectively determines controls the council (and the entire makeup of the executive).

I think Wikipedia should follow suit and do the same - but would be interested in others views. Trimfrim20 (talk) 15:52, 3 August 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hello, someone just added popular vote (I haven't seen a citation for this, despite looking in the last couple of months). We should have sufficient data for a results table as there has been on previous London borough election articles. What source do we have for votes & %'s?
