2020 Kenai Peninsula mid-air collision2020 Alaska mid-air collision – Nominating per WP:COMMONNAME. The Kenai Peninsula is not as widely known as the state of Alaska, and most news stories about the accident primarily emphasize Alaska as the location. No other mid-air collisions meeting WP:GNG occurred in Alaska in 2020, so the proposed title satisfies WP:CONCISE. Carguychris (talk) 18:01, 20 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

I would suggest '''Soldotna Airport mid-air collision''', since it occurred in the vicinity of the airport from which one aircraft departed. That is more relevant than the geographic feature, or geopolitical boundary. Also no need for a year unless there is more than one. Dhaluza (talk) 02:36, 21 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
  • Support. Soldotna Airport is even more obscure to the average Joe (or Josephine) than the Kenai Peninsula. Nearly all of the mid-air collision articles in Category:Mid-air collisions are identified by location, with the sole exception being 2021 Centennial Airport mid-air collision, which should then also be renamed 2021 Denver mid-air collision. If it happens when both aircraft are en route, then the geographic location is relevant. But if it happens in the vicinity of an airport when at least one aircraft is operating out of that airport, then the airport is the more relevant context. Dhaluza (talk) 00:25, 22 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
In instances where the media and popular culture haven't given an aviation accident a popular title (e.g. The Day The Music Died or Miracle on the Hudson), I think that the location should be as general and identifiable as possible—country first; state, province, or other major region second; and so on—only as specific as it needs to be to meet WP:CONCISE. The Centennial accident generated a host of location-based arguments that I won't rehash here (see that article's talk page), but I've already argued that it should be moved to 2021 Colorado mid-air collision, provided that no other notable mid-air happens in Colorado within the next 5 months! • Support. Unambiguous and far more recognisable. Ticks all the boxes. Andrewa (talk) 06:42, 28 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
