Inclusion of 'Manitoba First' in the infobox

edit

Hello, please stop adding Manitoba First into the infobox. Here is the basic criteria that is generally followed for cases similar. Please note which of these Manitoba First does and does not meet:

  1. Party must notable result from previous election campaign, standard is flexible but generally >3%.
  2. Party must have representation in the current/outgoing Legislature.
  3. Party must be included as a specific option in polls conducted by recognized non-partisan organizations.
  4. Party must be running a full slate in the election or expected to.

Of these four simple and non-controversial standards, Manitoba First reaches just one - #2, MAYBE. There isn't actually clear indication that Manitoba First is the Manitoba Party that retiring MLA Steven Fletcher is listed as a member of at the Manitoba Legislature site.[1] Before we put them in the infobox, it may help to actually confirm this fact, of which no one has. Similar name =/= same party.

Also, and we can have a fair discussion about this, Fletcher is not running this election. In fact, as of 2019-08-14, NO ONE is running for Manitoba First according to Elections Manitoba. Until they have candidates, I think we should also hold off on putting them into the infobox. Just being registered doesn't entitle them to a spot.

Third, in previous elections with similar circumstances, such as Ontario 2018 with the Trillium Party, we didn't include them into the infobox despite having an incumbent from a floor crossing, one that was running for re-election no less. Discussion is welcome, but Manitoba First doesn't even reach that level, so how can we include them here now?

Converso polling

edit

From my experience with opinion polling at the national level, polling that does not include sample size, margin of error, breakdowns of methodology, etc., are generally not included. We have very little information for this first time poller aside from a correction of their otherwise rogue polling figures. My feelings are not to include this poll since it does not provide us with enough information. I have put a request in to the company for the release of the poll, but it was not provided by the time of this comment. This could all be moot if the information does become available. Any other thoughts? Krazytea(talk) 23:16, 23 August 2019 (UTC)Reply

Shouldn't the Greens be in the infobox here?

edit

The party received 6.43% of the popular vote in the province. Usually, we use 5% as the cut-off. They are well above that. Also I note they are included in the infobox for the 2016 Manitoba general election where they received 5.07% of the province-wide vote. We also have included them in the infobox for the next election. On what basis would we exclude them from this one?--Darryl Kerrigan (talk) 18:41, 22 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

I have added the party in. If anyone disagrees, we should discuss.--Darryl Kerrigan (talk) 21:48, 22 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
