At the bottom of the article: "The unusually abrupt decline in cases by April 2020 was attributed to the effects of widespread social distancing and lockdowns aimed at COVID-19", and the reference posted for this statement is a Nature.com article dwelling more into the matter. The COVID-19 lockdowns that took place around April seem to have cut the influenza season in the northern hemisphere by about 6 weeks.
