Leap second

edit

I see The Daily Telegraph tells us: "On June 30, dials will read 11:59:60 as clocks hold their breath ..." Just analogue dials then, not digital displays? Is that all dials, by Royal decree? Or is this just for people who still use those old-fashioned dials (with lungs)? (and great to see their picture of Big Ben being stopped for that extra second while they wash it...) Is this really an event only in UK? If so, UK will be a second behind the rest of the world? Martinevans123 (talk) 09:57, 30 June 2015 (UTC)Reply
It is not a UK only event. Only official master clocks will initially read 11:59:60. Computer clocks will update when they sync with an time server. Everyone else will have to update their clocks manually.--Racklever (talk) 12:00, 30 June 2015 (UTC)Reply
So a little surprised to see it listed here. For most people I suspect it will be a real "non-event". Or perhaps we're all breathlessly waiting for the unbridled excitement of that extra pip. Martinevans123 (talk) 12:23, 30 June 2015 (UTC)Reply
