For the inaugural running of the event, why do we have a defending champion?
"The motorsport organisation Stéphane Ratel Organisation (SRO)" Could need a reorganization to not say "organization" twice in five words.
"renew its contract with the FIA two years prior" Two years prior to what?
" Despite lapping at his pace in the early stages of the race," Lapping? He wasn't lapped, so I'm not sure what you meant here.
"At midpoint in the race," At the midpoint, or "At the race's midpoint, I would think?
" latter's car lodged onto his left rear tyre." His is ambiguous here.
I made three small edits as I went, please check them.
