Initialisms for intraconference games edit

Since there are two sets of schools that share the same initialisms, Arkansas State and Appalachian State with ASU and Georgia Southern and Georgia State with GSU, how should editors refer the schools in intraconference matchups? Last season, "ASU" was used for Arkansas State victories and had Georgia State won a game, they would have likely used "GSU". Right now, "GaSou" is being used for Georgia Southern victories.

How should Appalachian State be referred to if and when they win their first Sun Belt game? "AppSt" would seem to be the most likely answer.
