More sources

edit

Too disgusted at the moment to edit this, but here are some sources that could be used Cwobeel (talk) 02:49, 10 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

This source [1] explains that the swastika was to portray police as nazis and not necesarily them being associated with white supremacy. Cwobeel (talk) 03:03, 10 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

Robert Wilcox

edit

It appears Robert Wilcox was the civilian that was killed and that he tried to stop Miller. He apparently was a law-abiding civilian with a concealed carry permit. Apparently, Amanda came up behind him and shot him from behind while Wilcox was confronting Miller. Not much coverage of this hero Wilcox. http://www.jrn.com/ktnv/news/Alleged-cop-killers-in-Las-Vegas-have-been-identified-262407401.html is one. I've added details and the Sheriff's reaction with a reliable source. The Dissident Aggressor 21:39, 19 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

Article title

edit

The title 2014 Las Vegas police shooting is ambiguous as it may imply that it was a police shooting rather than policemen shot at. Also, there was a third civilian casualty. I'd suggest to move it to "2104 Las Vegas shooting" or something similar, to make the title neutral, as well as accurate. Cwobeel (talk) 22:37, 10 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

Maybe 2014 Las Vegas shooting spree, which is similar to other articles in the Shootings in the United States template KinkyLipids (talk) 23:01, 10 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

KinkyLipids: That should work. Would you do the honors? Cwobeel (talk)
Reply - I like the title the way it is. If (heaven forbid) another shooting in southeast Nevada occurs this year, the article can be retitled "June 8, 2014 Las Vegas shootings" or simply add the month to the title. --Jax 0677 (talk) 03:16, 11 June 2014 (UTC)Reply
Heaven forbid indeed. Cwobeel (talk) 03:20, 11 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

Who killed Jerad Miller?

edit

According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, it's Las Vegas police who shot and killed Jerad Miller. News is still fairly new, so I'm waiting for more developments and not editing the main article for now.

Agreed, the later reports I've seen say that both were hit by police gunfire, and that Jerad died immediately thereafter. 173.228.54.18 (talk) 23:14, 10 June 2014 (UTC)Reply
Huh?!?!?! All the reports I have seen said it was a murder/suicide: the wife killed the husband and then herself. Has that been changed? Joseph A. Spadaro (talk) 05:17, 11 June 2014 (UTC)Reply
There are some questions about this. Let's wait until the official autopsy report is out before changing. Cwobeel (talk) 15:28, 11 June 2014 (UTC)Reply
I initially held my nose and wrote the sentence as the sources say, but I am indeed very skeptical of suicide in every case and people committing suicide during a shootout in particular. I'll be happy to change it to something less confident. Wnt (talk) 16:17, 11 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

Off topic "See also"

edit

Please don't use the "See also" section as a dumping ground for pro/anti-gun related articles. This article is about an event - not your (or others') political agenda. I've removed a bunch of off-topic stuff from that section. The Dissident Aggressor 14:01, 23 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

Gadsden flag

edit

The Gadsden flag does not belong in this article. The fact that the perpetrators put a flag over the body of one of the victims is irrelevant. They also put a Nazi flag with a swastika, [2] and we should not add that image here either. - Cwobeel (talk) 14:30, 9 July 2014 (UTC)Reply

The Gadsden flag does belong in this article. The fact that the perpetrators put a flag over the body of one of the victims is relevant. I'm not a WP editor of any note, which is why I don't edit articles, but it seems obvious that the Gadsden flag is central to their motive and the political statement they were trying to make. Whitewashing references to the Gadsden flag is intellectually dishonest.Escherbach (talk) 23:07, 20 July 2014 (UTC)Reply
I fundamentally disagree. There is no whitewashing as the flag is mentioned in the article. - Cwobeel (talk) 23:26, 20 July 2014 (UTC)Reply
Its relevant to the article. They placed the flag over one of the dead cop's faces. Leave your fucking politics at the door. --RThompson82 (talk) 23:01, 20 December 2014 (UTC)Reply
