Whatever is the case here, the last election was not held in 2011. The last parliamentary election was held in 2006, so the next one is long overdue; I haven't been able to find anything right now, but I don't know much French and I have only limited internet availability until 11 April. —Nightstallion 08:19, 2 April 2012 (UTC)

I confirm right now the elections have been proposed for May, but as for the incendiary speeches between government and opposition, it's more likely the elections will be postponed furtherly. The page doesn't need to be deleted, because the elections are on schedule,the deletion proposal is totally unjustified. How many elections are postponed over and over again, even a dozen times for years before being held ? Just look at Palestine. The wiki page needs to be updated , not deleted.

Constituency results

I have compiled the results from the constituencies listed on the CENI page. However, the number of registered voters (1,179,384) is less than the figures for the national PR elections (1,189,105). I have double checked the files, and the total I got should be correct.

Is there a constituency missing, or do more people have the right to vote in the national-level ballots (e.g. citizens living abroad)? Cheers, Number 57 23:53, 6 December 2013 (UTC)

Electoral system

The electoral system for the legislative elections of 2013 (I have no idea what changed comparing with earlier elections):

The assembly is elected in three tiers :

a) 106 seats in 46 districts corresponding to the 'Moughataa' (Nouakchott with 18 seats, Sélibaby with 4 seats, 6 districts with 3 seats, 28 districts with 2 seats and 10 districts with one seat)

b) 20 seats nationally

c) 20 seats nationally for women

The electoral system is:

For 66 seats in districts with one or two seats : two-round system (if two seats: closed list)

For 80 seats in districts with more than two seats : List-PR (closed list) (simple quota largest remainder).

Detailed table

@Number 57 I’m currently working on standardising the tables for Mauritanian results on Wikipedia. I choose to leave out the constituency/districts total because it overloads the table with info thag not even Mauritanian media and politics care about the global constituency votes and % but only about the district breakdown due to the volatility of local politics, something the Results breakdown I was about to start tomorrow will have (both a global % and a per district result, since data is available on CENI’s archived link).

I will restore the table I finished today and deal with the per constituency data later, thankfully the “previous editions” allows me to not have to recalculate the per constituency global, making the Results breakdown easier to do tomorrow. Tidjani Saleh (talk) 21:10, 1 September 2023 (UTC)

Standarising the tables is not possible or appropriate when the elections were held according to different methods, and TBH I'm a bit shocked that you consider this a reasonable thing to do. Would you leave out the constituency results from German elections from 1953 onwards to keep them "standardised" with previous elections before they introduced MMP? And what the media "care about" is completely irrelevant – this is an encyclodpedia. Leaving out vote data is not acceptable IMO. Cheers, Number 57 21:15, 1 September 2023 (UTC)

@Number 57 Parliamentary elections from 2006 onwards on Mauritania were held under a similar election method (one or several national lists and constituency results). Elections before that were held with constituencies. Constituencies results here plainly don't matter since only one party (the ruling one) runs everywhere, with the rest being independents. That's why it's better to display constituencies results as I've done in the 2023 article, with a table showing seats gained per constituency and a results breakdown article showing results per constituency. Overdisplaying such data only crowds the Overall table with data that at the end of the day isn't that relevant for an overall analysis. I will readd the data with another column for constituency data since you insist on showing it but adding anything more is too much for an overall row. If the other post-2006 elections were held using the same system, they need this detail adding, not this article having it deleted. It isn't for you to decide that the constituency results "don't matter". Also, I don't think moaning about this and posting screenshots on Twitter is really appropriate behaviour. With all due respect, I fail to see how commenting on my Wikipedia edits on Twitter is "inappropriate behavior". It's my personal account (in which I use an informal tone) and I have always commented on my edits.

I will get to the results later but I still see as a complete waste of time a calculation that can't be found anywhere because no one is bothered to do due to its complexity and general uselessness. It isn't for me to decide that electoral districts results don't matter, but any Mauritanian news site or the election commission itself have proven already what importance it holds to them.
