Talk:2013 CONCACAF Gold Cup knockout stage

Content edit

A couple of weeks ago i successfully PRODed this article with the following rationale: Appears to have no content (could have gone for speedy, A3?); even requires two clicks to find out what the actual competition is; could be recreated with some meaning after the events it purports to cover. Clearly someone disagreed with that, as the thing was recreated (with, i believe, almost identical content) a couple of days after being deleted. I'm not really disputing the necessity of the article ~ though it still has essentially no content, as the event has not yet taken place, so per WP:CRYSTALBALL doesn't really belong here yet ~ but i am protesting at the sheer lack of content. It is still necessary to click twice (once on 2013 CONCACAF Gold Cup, then once more on CONCACAF) to even find out the basics of what the thing is. If it is going to remain, it needs some useful content. Cheers, LindsayHello 07:44, 20 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

Nah, forget it; i've suggested a merge into 2013 CONCACAF Gold Cup as making much more sense; no point to the knockout stage being separate from the actual competition, is there? Cheers, LindsayHello 11:12, 20 July 2013 (UTC)Reply
I have to say that WP:CRYSTALLBALL is ridiculous as the tournament itself is currently happening and this stage of the tournament starts today. "1.Individual scheduled or expected future events should be included only if the event is notable and almost certain to take place." Notability is not really a question as it is a FIFA confederation championship and I am pretty certain it will take place as it has already started. Chris1834 (talk) 12:35, 20 July 2013 (UTC)Reply
"Ridiculous" perhaps now (i had forgotten it's the twentieth when i wrote this morning), but not so much so when the thing was deleted and then recreated a week or more ago. I stand, however, by my contention that the content ~ at least this morning ~ was insufficient; the lead doesn't describe what the competition is, the acronym isn't explained, in fact, there is/was essentially no content other than blank tables of games to be played. Not, i repeat, encyclopeadic. Cheers, LindsayHello 22:12, 20 July 2013 (UTC)Reply
