The Italian "comitato" is not necessarily a committee edit
Under Italian civil law, a Comitato[1] is not a committee. The word "comitato" may be translated on certain contexts as Committee (see [[2]]), but not in this specific context. I haven't found a specific word to translate the correct meaning, but surely this type of "comitato" is a kind of NPO.--Alessandro Riolo (talk) 17:44, 21 January 2012 (UTC)
- Fine that comitato is not committee, thanks. I've not found a source valid for the qualification as NPO, though. The statute, present on their website, is not signed, and no names are present for the supposed associations' post. To my understanding, it remains an "informal" political grouping. --Dans (talk) 18:48, 22 January 2012 (UTC)
- as the above link (see again [3]), a Comitato under Italian Civil Law is is an organisation, usually with philanthropic goals, and anyway with the aim to serve the public interest or common good. It is not exactly a Charity, but is more like a Foundation, albeit without full legal personality, and it is usually without assets, at least initially. In every case, it is a NPO, and in the case of the Comitato Forza d'Urto, it looks like the Comitato main scope is to create a political movement. I have been in a few of this kind of Comitati in the past, and to an American I would explain them as something like a Caucus and a Charity. In truth, Comitato Forza d'Urto looks like a sort of umbrella for caucus and other citizen organisations. I haven't seen their signed statute, but on their website is available the statuto with the list of the founders [4].
