Sounders Qualify as Sixth in MLS or as Reigning Champs

edit

The article mentions that the Seattle Sounders are 2-time reigning champs. But they are listed as qualifying for the tournament by virtue of being 6th overall in 2010 MLS. Is this correct? Doesn't the current cup champ qualify by virtue of being the defending cup champ? J Crow (talk) 21:18, 28 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

There is no provision for holders to qualify, competitions send teams afresh every year. Stevebritgimp (talk) 04:44, 14 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Chicago Fire Reserves

edit

How does a tournament work with the second team and the first team of the Chicago Fire in the tournament? If the first team is eliminated, can they just use the second team? What happens if the second team wins the tournament? Do they qualify for the CCL? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.51.97.23 (talk) 18:56, 26 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

These are two separate teams, with separate player registrations. If the second team wins the tournament, it would qualify for the CCL, but it would probably need to find an appropriate venue to play at. Stevebritgimp (talk) 04:44, 14 July 2011 (UTC)Reply
