Talk:2011 Rugby World Cup – Europe qualification

The IRB World Cup website indicates that the winners of Division 3D will also be involved in the play-offs, playing the winners of 3B in Round 1, with the others rounds having a number 1 greater than on this page.145.8.104.65 (talk) 11:02, 27 August 2008 (UTC)S McIvor NB. I have to question the necessity of including the match schedules and results for the various ENC divisions. It seems redundant in light of the fact that all of those already exist elsewhere. It seems like this will simultaneously be more work and more subject to vandalism or error. I think that linking to each division's table and schedule/results should be more than sufficient, and that the only results this page needs to have are the actual playoff matches between the teams that reach this stage. Obviously the tables (at least for each division below 2A) should be included here, as those on the ENC pages will continue to change during the 09-10 season.Alanmjohnson (talk) 20:11, 13 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

A note about the changes in color: I think it is best to use the red line to delineate the position which a team needs to achieve in order to advance, and to reserve the color to indicate that a team has already achieved that position. I think this gives more information without actually having to spell it out to the viewer.Alanmjohnson (talk) 21:18, 13 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Templates edit

Because the tables are being maintained in two places (here and the ENC pages), I thought it best to make templates for the sake of maintaining consistency/preventing errors and also to save effort down the road. The downside is the presence of the line for relegation, but I think it's a reasonable tradeoff. I would recommend that for all divisions below 2A, the table for the standings at the end of the 2008-09 season replace the template, as the remainder of the competition is not germane to this article.

Also, due to the increased possibility for error, the links to the information elsewhere in wikipedia, and the sheer size and appearance of this article, I recommend that the matches in each division not be shown. The information is easily available elsewhere for people who really want it. Alanmjohnson (talk) 07:09, 30 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Attendances edit

I ask someone to please add again the number of the attendances at the matches of the Division 1. It's a valuable element, specially for those who want to compare it with the Six Nations Championship.Mistico (talk) 20:57, 20 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

I agree that it's relevant and would improve the article...just not at the cost of messing up the formatting of the current table. That said, I prefer the simpler tables used for the other divisions, and would be just as happy if the entire table were to be replaced to look like those (which happen to include attendance).Alanmjohnson (talk) 21:42, 20 June 2009 (UTC)Reply
