Talk:2011 Newfoundland and Labrador general election

Polling edit

I'm wondering how to go about adding the polling results of a NTV/Telelink poll released this week. Unlike CRA they didn't exclude the undecided when they showed there numbers, therefore if I put the information in to the chart in this article I would either need a place to put the undecided support or add up the results without the undecided. What should be done? Newfoundlander&Labradorian (talk) 00:48, 19 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

Other provinces have a column for other. This is an interesting situation, because the only poll reporting doesn't report any other. I am undecided too, the right thing to do is add them as reported, but that wouldn't compare properly with the others. 117Avenue (talk) 03:36, 19 February 2011 (UTC)Reply
Okay I'll think about it some more. Newfoundlander&Labradorian (talk) 04:48, 19 February 2011 (UTC)Reply
I think the appropriate step is to calculate percentages in term of decided voters. That would be what CRA is doing, and what Wikipedia is reporting for other provinces. For other provinces, we need an "Other" column to show decided voters who opted for minor parties. That doesn't apply in N&L (except possibly for the Labrador Party?), so an "Other" column isn't necessary here. Tunborough (talk) 11:09, 25 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

Riding numbers edit

I don't understand why riding numbers have been added. Elections Newfoundland and Labrador doesn't seem to give any numbers official status, [1][2] so are doing it? -Rrius (talk) 23:48, 24 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

I was also questioning it, supposedly Elections NL use it in some of their charts. I find it a bit hard to read. Newfoundlander&Labradorian (talk) 23:55, 24 August 2011 (UTC)Reply
Elections N&L uses these numbers, for example in the report on the 2007 election, and list of election officials. Media outlets will also be using these numbers, at least internally. Tunborough (talk) 01:39, 25 August 2011 (UTC)Reply
I first saw the use of riding numbers on New Brunswick general election, 2010, for one, and thought it was the usual style. Tunborough (talk) 01:55, 25 August 2011 (UTC)Reply
