Move?

edit

The name 2011 Kütahya earthquake move to 2011 Simav earthquake. Because, the epicenter of the earthquake on the Simav district of Kütahya province. --Kmoksy (talk) 22:04, 19 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

Well, its impact does extend to other districts, even as far as Bursa.[1] Also, official Turkish news agencies are referring to it as the Kütahya deprimi [2][3][4] (Kutahya earthquake), so I suggest holding off on the move for now. ★ Auree talk 23:08, 19 May 2011 (UTC)Reply
The earthquake at the "Simav Fay Zonu". Simav district is eartquake-able district. Also, old earthquake in the Simav district (17 February 2009 Simav Earthquake : http://www.mta.gov.tr/v1.0/duyuru/duyurular/simav.pdf). In the Turkish language, district names (especially more unknown) used with province names: "Kütahya Simav" , "Kütahya, Simav" or "Kütahya-Simav" is common usage. Now 2 died. First died as a result of the high jump from the building in the Simav district of Kütahya province. But, second died, 74 aged a woman died of a heart attack in the İnegöl district of Bursa province. --Kmoksy (talk) 23:36, 19 May 2011 (UTC)Reply
The third death at the Hisarcık district of Kütahya province. --Kmoksy (talk) 23:41, 19 May 2011 (UTC)Reply
Yep, added that to the article. Let's hope that will be the last one :( As for the move, we should wait for comments from other editor's and/or more sources and information. ★ Auree talk 23:57, 19 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

Ack, another death. Thanks for reporting! Do you have a source for the fourth death? We currently only have sources supporting the deaths of two heart attack victims (Simav and Inegol), and one jump victim. ★ Auree talk 00:30, 20 May 2011 (UTC)Reply
On the TRT Haber channel of Turkish Radio and Television Corporation: "Depremde Simav'da 2, Hisarcık'ta 1 ve İnegöl'de 1 olmak üzere 4 kişi hayatını kaybetti" --Kmoksy (talk) 00:44, 20 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

Earthquake deaths and injuries take some time to report with any accuracy whatsoever. For an earthquake of this magnitude, at night, and for the next 24 hours, it would be better not to report casualty figures as the moment you post them, they are incorrect. Moreover, they will continue to be incorrect and misleading. After about 48 hours, they will start to be meaningful, but then still require updating from govt. sources rather than (esp. foreign) news agencies. (This opinion is based on my dissertation research on causes of deaths and injuries in Kocaeli earthquake - and available scientific research on earthquake epidemiology) Ablacigin (talk) 02:39, 20 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

  • Death as a result of the earthquake : 2 people
  • Death of a heart attack : 2 people
  • Injured : 122 (severely wounded : 1)
