Definite Article

edit

I noticed a definite article isn't being used with team names. It seems like the rule should be; Add an article before the team name if it begins with a region or city (i.e. the Los Angeles Galaxy in contrast to FC Dallas). ~ Fopam (talk) 03:45, 3 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

Olsen's Record as Interim Coach

edit

The introduction states, "Previously, Olsen took the role as a caretaker manager subsequent to Curt Onalfo's sacking in August 2010; where the finished the campaign out on a 2-2-4 record." In the press release naming him head coach on dcunited.com states, "He compiled a 3-8-1 record on an interim basis, guiding the club’s crop of talented young players, including 2010 MLS Rookie of the Year Andy Najar." ~ Fopam (talk) 04:10, 3 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

Player Movement Section

edit

There are discrepancies between Fee column in the Player Movement section and the listing on soccerticketsonline.com. I just wanted to make sure that the information is accurate.

Additionally, shouldn't the "Total Spending" under the Player Movement section be adjusted based on the salaries announced by the MLS Players Union in May? ~ Fopam (talk) 18:44, 3 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

Recently added photographs

edit

I've added a few topical photographs to the article. They may need to be resized, as the vertical format makes them rather large. I'd also like to replace the photograph currently in April with the Paul tifo image. ~ Fopam (talk) 03:14, 20 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

It also might make sense to replace the current Davies photograph in the February section with this one. ~ Fopam (talk) 03:17, 20 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

Article size

edit

Thanks to an incredible effort by Quidster4040 and notable contributions by Twwalter, 72.219.227.230 and Bubbagump24 this article has reached an exceptional level of detail. Although it is not one of the 500 longest pages, I believe the current length detracts its readability (see: WP:SIZE). The current size of 165 KB is greater than the 100 KB rule of thumb limit, which states that it "almost certainly should be divided".

I would like to propose moving the following sections to separate articles (see: Wikipedia: Splitting):

Either move the longest months or the entire Regular Season section:

All of the following sections into the following article:

Thanks for the kind words! I see nothing wrong with doing it. I suppose we would file these new articles under "Category:2011 D.C. United season" and make that new category a subcategory of "D.C. United seasons"? Quidster4040 (talk) 20:52, 21 October 2011 (UTC)Reply
You're very welcome. Yup, that's sounds about right. Template:D.C. United seasons could also use an appropriate update, but that can be sorted out once the article is properly divided.

Haha, I see now that you've already moved everything! Great job, it really looks good.

I actually disagree with the split. While it was getting on the long side, there were things that could have likely been weeded out. By doing this, the article is essentially a shell with little detail. Wizardman Operation Big Bear 21:56, 29 October 2011 (UTC)Reply
