Premier League fixtures

I see that someone has kindly filled in all of Arsenal's Premier League fixtures. All well and good but I would have thought that they were still under PL copyright as they were last year. Can anyone clarify? The C of E. God Save The Queen! (talk) 20:48, 23 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

I've been a bit confused on the copyright issue of fixtures - the understanding I've had ever since I joined Wikipedia is that they are copyrighted but nobody has ever seemed too certain, so I've done a little bit of research and this is what I've come up with:
The Premier League's Terms and Conditions which can be seen online here contain the following section:

"FIXTURES Copyright © and Database Right 2009[/10] The Football Association Premier League Ltd / The Football League Ltd / The Scottish Premier League Ltd / The Scottish Football League. All rights reserved. No part of this publication may be reproduced, stored in a retrieval system or transmitted in any way or by any means, (including photocopying, recording or storing it in any medium by electronic means), without the written permission of the copyright/database right owner. Applications for written permission should be addressed c/o Football DataCo Ltd, 30 Gloucester Place, London W1U 8PL."

Meanwhile, all the actual fixture pages (here for example) contain the following disclaimer:

"Reproduced under licence from Football DataCo Limited. All rights reserved. Licence number NEWMEDIA/PREMLGE/67175a."

This would seem to suggest that the fixtures are actually the intellectual property of Football DataCo Ltd, whose website contains the disclaimer:

"Reproduction of Fixtures The four UK professional football leagues have been licensing their fixtures since 1959 when they won a copyright case against Littlewoods Pools Limited."

The same website also contains a 'Price Agreement Checker' which states that a license to reproduce the fixtures on the internet for editorial purposes for a single club (which would seem to cover this article) requires payment of £266.00, which would certainly seem to suggest the fixtures are their property and copyrighted as such, and for wikipedia articles to reproduce them would require a hefty payment.
Therefore, it would seem that the fixtures are copyrighted, and that we are on dodgy ground by reproducing them in articles before the matches are played.

Hector Bellerin

I'm fairly new to this so forgive me if i'm doing this wrong. I noticed that Hector Bellerin was added to the transferred in section with the position as FW? I've looked over a variety of different sources and it seems that his position varies from Winger to Striker and even a Right-Back. Is any one able to clear this up as I'm not really sure what to do in these kind of circumstances. Thanks in advance. Pereirab04 12:51, 7 July 2011.

Aaron Ramsey

I've noticed that Aaron Ramsey is missing from the players list.

Also, the starting 11 selection seems a bit weird now that Clichy has gone, as it looks like we play 3-5-2. Thanks for pointing Ramsey's absence out - he was there in the raw text, but wasn't showing up because of a missing punctuation mark on Vela's entry. In terms of the starting 11, there isn't one yet because the season hasn't started - when it does, the ordering of players will sort itself out. Spiritofsussex (talk) 15:29, 26 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Analysis paralysis

I notice there is a hefty amount of table diagrams for squad stats, cards and what nots which can be problematic for the ordinary bypasser to digest information. It looks great but the quality of the Arsenal season articles gets masked. It doesn't cover enough match depth or description, just 'Key Events' and looking at similar seasons, there isn't much consistency. Jenkinson's Nationality

The main wiki page on Arsenal lists Jenkinson's nationality as Finnish, and this page as English. Considering his dual nationality and eligibility for both teams, shouldn't we be consistent about it? Request for Semi Protection

I have requested a semi-protection on this article since there have been persistent unqualified and possibly vandalism-inspired changes to the page, especially to the fixtures section. What's more, someone (there is this one ip which keeps doing this) continues to re-add premier league fixtures which haven't been played on this page. As I think we have agreed here, listing of such fixtures is a violation of copyright, and as such needs to be prevented. If any other users feel differently, please feel free to comment. Since Semi-protection there is still one user, Ricky Sen who keeps adding copyrighted Premier League fixtures to the page. He also appears to ignore users when they inform him in the descriptions and even when told not to on his talk page. I think that if this does not stop, it should be taken to WP:ANI.
