Talk:2010 Oregon gubernatorial election

Intro Sentence for Primary Sentence edit

"Because Democratic Governor Ted Kulongoski will be unable to run for a third term, the Democratic Party will likely be included in the primary election."

I think this sentence should be either rewritten or removed because it is a little confusing. Regardless of whether Kulongoski is able to run, there would be a primary for the Democratic Party. The information is essentially repeated from the section above it. My suggestion is to shift the third sentence and have it first, keep the second sentence and do away with the sentence above. Violence edit

Someone should add something about the assault that happened at Emmanuel Temple Church. It was in the news. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 61.245.48.206 (talk) 15:21, 26 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

I was there. There was no "violence" or "assault." He was a Republican tracker who was filming when he wasn't supposed to be filming. I think that, after the security guys kindly asked him to stop filming and he still didn't, the security guy "helped him out" by closing his camera which conveniently made a loud noise and happened to be near his face, so it was really easy for him to pretend that he had been slapped in the face. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Alexbbard (talkcontribs) 17:40, 26 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Party Affiliation edit

I actually have two issues regarding party affiliation, one of which I know how to change but I wanted input, and the other of which I have no idea how to change, so I'm suggesting a change. The former is that I think it would be better if the party affiliation under the candidates section actually contained the full name of the parties, since some are less well known, and as such C and L could possibly be mistaken for "Conservative" and "Liberal," of which the latter isn't true. The second change I'm suggesting is that Kitzhaber be listed as both a Democrat and an Independent in the upper section, because his Independent affiliation is just as legitimate as his Democratic affiliation. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Alexbbard (talkcontribs) 23:00, 4 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

The first part I agree with, even though it appears to be standard on many other election pages, there's no real reason we couldn't be clearer here. As to the second part, we would need to add another section parallel to the Primaries section which describes how Kitzhaber got the Independent nomination. I recall there was an electronic voting system, but I'm not sure it was really a primary. We should link to the complete results and describe how Oregon allows dual party identification. --Esprqii (talk) 23:08, 4 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

County Results edit

I noticed that there was an image that was supposed to have the county results, but it's just gray right now. Is anyone working on putting the results in? If not, we should probably lose the image. Alex Bard 02:06, 12 November 2010 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Alexbbard (talkcontribs)
