Hello, I'm trying to update the season. But, I am not a seasoned baseball fan. Please add anything relevant to the spring training section. I feel like that section is lacking JacqueBee (talk) 02:28, 27 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

I think that the best article to use as a model for this one is 2009 Philadelphia Phillies season, which is one of the few season articles that has achieved Good Article status. In addition to my feedback here, you may want to look through that article for some ideas on how to improve this one. Having said that, and keeping in mind that I don't know anything about baseball, here's my feedback on this article so far:

  • The lead section should be expanded to a few solid paragraphs which summarize all of the important information in the article. The relevant guideline is WP:LEAD.
  • Avoid using abbreviations and terminology that non-fans wouldn't understand. When it is necessary to use baseball jargon, be sure to link to an appropriate article or provide a brief explanation. What is a knuckleballer? What does OBP mean?
  • Similarly, avoid using colorful language such as "Boston sports fans have witnessed an array of shortstops brought in to stop the bleeding" or "to the tune of one-year and $3.345 million" Such wording is both imprecise and informal. The relevant guideline can be found at WP:TONE.
  • There is some information presented in this article that doesn't seem specific to the 2010 Red Sox. The subsection Record vs. Opponents looks like it would be more appropriate in the article about the 2010 Major League Baseball season.

Those are the big things that stick out to me. Once you've worked on that, we'll go through and tweak the finer details. Hope this helps! --Cryptic C62 · Talk 22:03, 10 November 2010 (UTC)Reply
