Rename

edit

Shouldn't this article be named 2008 Danish embassy bombing according to Wikipedia's naming policy? Snailwalker | talk 10:00, 2 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Yep, done. —Nightstallion 12:00, 2 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Details

edit

Media reports differ; some say 3 or 4 killed, and 8 injured, rather than 8 killed. And some say the Norwegian embassy is closed, but not the Swedish. We should avoid presenting as facts what still appears to be in dispute.--Noe (talk) 10:28, 2 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Citations

edit

I cleaned up the page a bit, but i can't read danish so I cant clean up all the references. I also wrote citation needed, where someone who can read danish can fill in the gaps with the links left in the references section. Doesn't look to clean yet, but its only been 4 hours since the attack. Lihaas (talk) 10:59, 2 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

The References section needs cleaning up as the links are overlapping each other. --TwentiethApril1986 (talk) 11:27, 2 June 2008 (UTC)Reply
The Danish foreign ministry ref does speak of the mohammed cartoons, but only notes it as attracting the ire of terrorists. The politiken.dk one doesn't say anything that the English ones don't. (I'm a Swede btw, so my Danish isn't great). 130.237.11.146 (talk) 11:36, 2 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Location of the embassy

edit

Anybody have the lat/log of the location of the embassy for Google Earth? I am guessing it isn't far from 33°43'51.32"N 73° 4'1.04"E - but that's based on a fuzzy BBC map and could be wildly inaccurate. --IceHunter (talk) 14:11, 2 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

I've been searching google but can't find a geo position for the embassy. --TwentiethApril1986 (talk) 15:27, 2 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Here's the address, from the Danish foreign ministry[1]:

Royal Danish Embassy
House #16, Street #21, F-6/2
P.O.Box 1118
Islamabad

- if that's any help.--Noe (talk) 19:00, 2 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Judging from this map (zoom in on F-6; left corner is F-6/2) and Google Earth, the coordinates given above seem to be one street off, in a street unnamed in the map (perhaps #22, as it's between #21 and #23). The ends of Street #21 are at 33°43'52"N 73°04'05"E and 33°43'56"N 73°04'02"E. However, I don't know how accurate the coordinates in Google earth are (I know my house apparently moved a few meters some months ago!), and if the bombing took place in a parking lot, it could be behind a house from the street. - In geo coordinates, one second is about 30 meters (even less in the longitude if not on equator), and the 2nd decimal is 30 cm, so just giving coordinates to nearest second (or at most with one decimal) seems appropriate.--Noe (talk) 06:59, 3 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Danish-> English

edit

Don't forget Google Translate recently added Danish - as with most google translations its like a drunk teenager, but presumably its better than nothing ;) --IceHunter (talk) 14:27, 2 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Deaths

edit

Some reports say 6, 8 and 10 or different amounts of people were killed in the bombing but which number do we use in the article? --TwentiethApril1986 (talk) 14:33, 2 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Suicide bomb status not verified

edit

On the main page this is called a suicide attack, while the article itself stated that it is a SUSPECTED suicide car bomb. It has not yet been verified that this is a suicide bomb, at least not here in Denmark, so claiming that it is a suicide attack is pt. erroneous. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.89.116.155 (talk) 16:17, 2 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

True. Fixed. Thanks. --Kizor 07:20, 3 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

reason for the attack

edit

No one has claimed responsibility for the attack or given any reason, yet the lead paragraph offers speculation based on *one* individual, as cited in *one* online source. I think Wikipedia ought to stick to the facts and refrain from giving such weighty importance to this speculation. At the very least, the speculation should be moved further down into the body of the article until some concrete *facts* emerge. 76.19.101.108 (talk) 03:58, 5 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Koranverset?

edit

International reactions->International Organizations->Al Qaeda The quote has a word, "koranverset", probably a typing error? Lilaac (talk) 15:35, 10 June 2009 (UTC)Reply
