Infobox edit

  • The name of the tournament should be mentioned in the tournament_name= field
  • The dates for the tournament are in September not August
  • The second word in the phrase "Single Elimination" does not need to begin with a capital letter

Lead edit

  • "was a professional nine-ball pool competition, the second World Cup of Pool," - and the second edition of the
  • "from September from 25 to 30, 2007." - 25 to 30 September 2007.
  • "The tournament was organised by Matchroom Sport, sponsored by poker website Partypoker, and broadcast on Sky TV." - mention it was actually broadcast in other countries not just on Sky in the UK
  • "The defending champions were the Filipino team of Efren Reyes and Francisco Bustamante who had defeated Rodney Morris and Earl Strickland in the final of the 2006 event." - a detail that is missing here is that Morris and Strickland were part of the USA team in the 2006 event
  • "The Philippines were eliminated in the semi-finals by the Chinese team. In the final, Li Hewen and Fu Jianbo representing China defeated Mika Immonen and Markus Juva from Finland on a deciding rack 11–10." - both of the Chinese players should be first mentioned in the first sentence of this portion of text
  • Also references in the lead should be avoided per MOS:CITELEAD

Format edit

  • "The tournament was played between 25 and 30 August 2007 as scotch doubles," - September per sources
  • "at the Outland club" - nightclub per sources
  • "The event would see 16 seeded teams, and 16 unseeded teams of two play alternating shots in scotch doubles style." - repetition of "teams"
  • "The defending champions were Efren Reyes and Francisco Bustamante representing the Philipines," - typo; should be Philippines
  • Somehow, Morris is mentioned but Strickland is not in the two citations used to verify the above sentence
    • Weird, probably because Strickland didn't play in 2007. I've added a suitable cite. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 20:48, 25 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
  • Reference 7 has more information about who broadcast the tournament. It might be worth considering adding a coverage sub-section split from the main section dedicated to this

Teams edit

  • Consider adding information on which teams were seeded and which teams were not with the appropriate source
  • "The participating teams are shown below:[11][10]" - refs in numerical order please
  • He-wen's surname should not include a hyphen in this section

Summary edit

  • "The first round of the event was played from 25 to 27 August as a race to seven racks." - September as a race to eight
  • "Before the event, the Malaysian team of Patrick Ooi and Ibrahim Bin Amir withdrew from the event, due to "unforeseen circumstances", and were replaced by a Belgian team of Serge Das and Noel Bruynooghe." - pair
  • "The pair met the Netherland second team;" - Dutch "B" side
  • "The Russian 16th seeds of Ruslan Chinachov and European number one Konstantin Stepanov" - The 16th seeded Russian pair of
  • "were defeated by the Croatian team in the opening round 5–8." - mention the Crotatian players for consistency
  • "over David Alcaide and Antonio Fazane despite dropping the opening rack." - mention Alcaide and Fazane played for Spain
  • "The English team of Imran Majid and Daryl Peach came from 3–6 behind to defeat the Polish side 8–6." - the inclusion of the players for Poland will help matters here
  • "as the previous years finalist USA team won 8–7 over Malta having taken the last four racks." - 2006 finalists
  • "The second round was played on 27 to 29 August as a race to seven racks." - September as a race to eight per source
  • "and having trailed 6–7 won the final two racks to win 8–7.[19][20]" - the second citation isn't needed here since it does not mention the Japan v Dutch "A" match
  • "but tied the match at 6–6 before winning the match 8–6." - repetition of "match"
  • "The USA team were wearing orange shirts, the traditional colour of the Netherlands, after both Dutch teams had been eliminated." - repetition of "teams"
  • "The Belgian team, made from Bruynooghe and Das, ranked 46th and 60th in Europe" - composed of Bruynooghe and Das who were ranked 46th and 60th in Europe,
  • "The defending champion Filipino team" - championship winning Filipino
  • "The next two racks," - During the next two racks,
  • "to win them before they broke and ran rack 13 to win the match." - for victory.
  • "The quarter-finals were played on 29 August as a race to nine racks." - September
  • "with both players jumping up and down in joy after the shot." - in celebration
  • "Having defeated the Taiwan team in the second round, the Belgian team were "drained"," - repetition of "team"
  • "the Belgian team were "drained"," - according to whom?
  • "The defending champions were defeated by the Chinese team 6–9." - please mention the defending champions were the Philippines
  • "The last quarter-final featured Finland's" - saw
  • "The semi-finals were played on 30 August as a race to nine racks." - September for accuracy
  • "The first semi-final featured 10th seeded Finland play the 11th seeded Canadian team." - saw the 10th
  • "The Canadian team only had nine shots in the entire match." - played nine shots in the entire game.
  • "The other semi-final match was played between China, seeded 8th and the unseeded Japanese team." - no mention of China being the 8th seed in both the sources used to verify this sentence
  • "However, Hewen missed a shot on the 2-ball the following rack allowing Japan to the table," - during the following rack, allowing
  • "The final was also played on 30 August," - September
  • "The Chinese team of Hewen and Jianbo met the Finland team of Juva and Immonen." - repetition of "team"
  • "with six in the first 15 racks; having had just ten in the rest of the tournament." - the semi colon should be replaced by a comma
  • "China took a lead at 6–4 and 7–5." - China led 6–4 and then 7–5.
  • "The Finland team, however, won four straight frames to level the match at 10–10.." - the extra full stop is redundant

Main draw edit

  • The seeds in the draw need to be verified with the correct source
  • The word "Kanada" should not be next to the country of Canada in the semi-final draw

References edit

  • Should the "z" in "AzBilliards" be capitalised?
  • "Sport, Matchroom" and "Release, Press" are not authors
  • Reference 1 is missing the date it was published
  • Reference 3 is missing the date it was accessed and the original url link in the url= field
    • Hmm, it all seemed ok. I think it was just missing the url-status field. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 21:25, 25 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
  • The word "venue" in the title of the same reference should begin with a capital letter
  • The archive url in Reference 5 is linked to information concerning the 2008 tournament not the 2007 tournament
  • Reference 6 is missing the date it was accessed and both of the links are to the incorrect article
  • Reference 8 is missing the publication date and the access date
  • Reference 11's url and archive urls are linked to the 2008 tournament not the 2007 event
  • Reference 13 is a duplicate of Reference 11
  • The archive link for Reference 21 will need changing to the one from 2007
  • References 22 and 23 are missing the publication dates
  • Reference 25 is a duplicate of Reference 10
