fair use image removal

I have removed all or a majority of the fair use images on this page as their use was not in line with our Wikipedia:Non-free content criteria policy (likely in that the use is not minimal (3.a.) and it is in a list or a gallery (8.)). Article merge

I just found the article Pan american brazil which is flagged for copyedit, but it looks like a mis-created copy of this article, although this one is clearly better developed. I wasn't sure whether to flag t'other article for deletion, so put in a merge tag in case there's any info that can be moved here. Deditos 22:09, 4 July 2007 (UTC).

The other article is horrible. It looks like the guy who created it invented english words out of portuguese ones. And that article has nothing to do with this one. It's a list of Brazilian Athles that will compete. It would be better if it were changed to Brazil at the 2007 Pan American Games, following the Olympic Games pattern.Saulopro 19:08, 5 July 2007 (UTC)

Ah, I hadn't spotted that it was about the Brazil team only. I'll have a go at making that page you suggest, as it makes me itch to have that other horrible one lingering about. Deditos 23:32, 6 July 2007 (UTC).

Wrong logo on medals?

I notice that the SVG images for the gold/silver/bronze medals have the Olympic rings on them. Since this event isn't related to the Olympics, is there a version of these images that doesn't have the rings? --^hello,gadren 02:17, 16 July 2007 (UTC)

The official site has medal images - definitely different. [[1]] The question is whether they can be used here. If they can't then I think plain gold/silver/bronze boxes or circles would be better than the current images. Manassehkatz 03:38, 16 July 2007 (UTC)

olympic qualifying

I totally agree, IMO qualifying events for the Olympics MUST be there. BTW, which are the medal and events images that we should use at [[Country at the 2007 Pan American Games|Country]] link?? It's driving me crazy, i've changed them like 3 times, and i see the "official" medals are back on this page. Shouldn't all the [[Country at the 2007 Pan American Games|Country]] links have the same imgaes? (btw, i know that the events ones are gonna be erased due to ©, is there any free option? It was because of the risk of copyrighted images deletion that I helped the Olympics Wikiproject by providing them with a public domain free-licensed set of Olympic sports pictograms. They are all uploaded into Commons so anyone can use them :) So can you. I know that some Pan American sports aren't Olympic sports, so if you like them and wish to use them I can create images for the missing sports. I personally loved the options for the Americas medals, although I've seen in Brazil that they use File:Gold medal Rio 2007.jpg instead, should they be changed also? If so, later today i'll standarize them in all the articles related to the PanAm games :D, very good job Paruta(l)kupiu; in regard the sports, i don't think will be a problem to represent the events with those images, since they are the same sports in both competitions, i'll update the images also, if there's any sport missing i'll let you know, ok? Is this translation wrong? Viver is not necessary Compartilhar and in Portuguese the original slogan meaning is Live.

I agree. It's probably a choice of organizers. Also, "Viva essa energia" wouldn't be translated "Live this energy" as stated by you before (@ fisrt user/"poster"). If you're American, you better be proud of your sportsmen. They're doing just great here, at Rio 2007. Americans win everywhere nowdays, however you should consider that other American countries are constantly improving their quality in sports, 'cos as show us Pan-American Games history, US already won more medals in a single Pan American event than they'll win here, in 2007. Less developed American countries are also participating, putting their quality in test, and showing each other they can do it. I hope you won't mind it, dude, but US is suddently losing some medals... Still, brillant, congratulations. Congrats US, Cuba and Brazil; Cuba for such wonderful participation, and Brazil for such spetacle. And now I must go. Yup, US has always dominated in sports, especially at the Olympics. I'm very impressed with Cuba though, who currently have the second most gold. Canada should be doing better than Cuba since it probably has more available resources, atheletes, etc. Although no country can no longer beat the US, Brazil has a good chance of overcoming Cuba by getting more golds then them. We are impressed with Cuban sportists' performance. It's probably because Mr. Fidel Castro, in his personal government, makes sure to have all Cuban children practicing sports in schools and other public spaces. This strategy is eficient and show good results, making them a constant potency in sporting events whenever Cuba is envolved. Don't take my words as if I was aligned, I mean, on favour or against Fidel, but I think it's done to show world how Cuban people is strong, potent and able to situate themselves among the best even though Cuba faces several economic "embargos" and serious social problems. But that's not our point. In fact, Brazilian media was speculating tow or three days ago if we would be able to overcome Cubans, and we did, late in Thrusday, if I'm not wrong. But just for few hours. Currently we already recognized Cuba as being the owner of second position. After all, even if Brazil was able to win all competitions between today and tomorrow (when ends the Games) wouldn't be enough gold medals to arise. Brazil is already happy for simple reasons, the Games were peacefully, clean, we won more medals than we did previously in 2003 and in any other Pan American competition. Now, we're just waiting the 2014 FIFA World Cup, which will probably take place in Brazil and may an Olympic Game... Oh, Brazil is supposed to beat US in few minutes, on Male Volleyball Tournament.
