Title

Shouldn't Football be in the name of this article. I was kind of looking for a basketball game since the ACC is known as a basketball conference.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTD) 20:11, 13 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

True, the ACC does run a Championship Tournament in basketball, but not a Championship Game. The final game of the ACC Championship basketball tournament is the tournament's championship game, not the conference's championship game, since there isn't one -- there is a tournament, instead. Granted, that might be called semantics, but I'm simply following the precedent set by other conferences' football championship games, which don't use the football qualifier.

A disambiguation tag line would be good at the top of this article, however, and I'll put that in place straightaway. JKBrooks85 (talk) 01:58, 14 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Comments on article

Overall, a very well-written, well-cited article. My complaints are few and arbitrary. Also, you do not need a GA review before submitting for FA. If you do not feel like waiting for a GA approval, go ahead and nominate for FA. I don't think I should be the one to grant this GA status since I'm biased as a member of the CFB WP.

  • You need fair use rationale for Image:ACCChampgame.gif's usage in this article.
  • I question the relevance of the 2008 ACC Championship Game section in this article.
  • I think the two Individual Leaders tablse takes up to much room. The header font is too big, the rows are too big (in height). What's wrong with the normal wikitable format?

Not much help, but there you go. I'll try to look at it some more soon.↔NMajdantalk 15:59, 26 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

GA Review Passed

edit

Congratulations; this article meets the requirements of a good article! My review for the article’s GA nomination is broken into three parts; initial comments, assessment, and suggestions.

Initial Comments:

  • Well-written introduction
  • This is one of the best illustrated good article nominees I’ve ever seen; excellent work!
  • The references are outstanding; it’s very clear a lot of high-quality work has been put into them.

GA review (see here for criteria)
  1. It is reasonably well written.
    a (prose):   b (MoS):
  2. It is factually accurate and verifiable.
a (references):   b (citations to reliable sources):   c (OR):
  3. It is broad in its coverage.
    a (major aspects):   b (focused):
  4. It follows the neutral point of view policy.
    Fair representation without bias:
  5. It is stable.
    No edit wars etc.:
  6. It is illustrated by images, where possible and appropriate.
a (images are tagged and non-free images have fair use rationales):   b (appropriate use with suitable captions):
  7. Overall:
    Pass/Fail:

While there aren’t any issues that prevent this article from meeting GA requirements, there are several minor issues or ideas that could help enhance the article.

Suggestions for future improvement:

  • I agree with the above comment that the section “2008 ACC Championship Game” has no place in this article. Instead, you might as well go ahead and create the 2008 edition of this article, and drop that info in there as a starting point.
  • When formatting your citations, the author of an article should be listed first before the title (such as you find in almost all Featured Articles, like Lee Smith (baseball), for example). Some editors like to use the Cite web template so the info is automatically organized correctly.
  • It would be cool if you could incorporate quotes from players and coaches who participated in the game, particularly in the only two sections not currently illustrated (the Offensive & Defensive matchups sections). Using quote boxes for this would really make the quotes stand out.

For anyone else reading this review, please consider reviewing an article or two at GAN to help with our current backlog of nominations. Thanks for your contribution to Wikipedia thus far, and good luck with this article in the future! Monowi (talk) 08:22, 19 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for taking a look at it, Monowi. I really appreciate the help! The main reason I included a section about the 2008 game in this article was for the simple reason that the site of the 2008 game was a direct result of poor attendance in Jacksonville for the 2007 game. Because it's a direct effect, I felt it was worth mentioning. I'll see about incorporating some quote boxes into the article as well. JKBrooks85 (talk) 07:26, 21 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
