Notation for penalty shootouts

edit

Thank you to all who have been helping update scores as matches are played. Lots of these one-leg ties are going to penalty shootouts. To be consistent with last year's Coppa article and other soccer tournament articles elsewhere on Wikipedia, we should follow this format: indicate the number of goals scored in regulation + extra time as usual, and then the number of penalties scored only in parentheses afterward. This is more informative than putting the combined score of regulation goals and penalties in parentheses. If anyone has comments or a problem with this format, just reply here on the talk page. —Ed Cormany 16:35, 17 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
