- 4 years 4 months in fact. I'm sure the delay was legal, and Crikey observes that Labor didn't complain. If we can find the rules about election dates we should put them in, but calling it "loopholes" is a bit of colourful language by Crikey and I don't think we should put it in. - Normally in the Westminster system the time limit is on the life of a parliament not the period between elections. Normally there's a period of some weeks between polling day and the clock starting with the new parliament formally opening. If that parliament runs to the absolute maximum of its life then there's a further period of some weeks before polling day in the next election. Timrollpickering (talk) 13:57, 26 June 2009 (UTC)
