Infobox
  • 71 laps, 305.939 km (190.681 mi) — This doesn't appear to be in the body of the article
    • It's referenced by the Chicane F1 source MWright96 (talk) 07:57, 3 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
      • I don't mean that it needs a citation in the infobox; I mean thatthe fact that the race was 71 laps, and that the 71 laps totaled ~206km/191 miles, is only mentioned in the infobox and lead, not in the body.
Background
  • Any reason such a small photograph is being used? File:Autódromo José Carlos Pace, July 3, 2018 SkySat (cropped).jpg looks like it might work instead
  • had a large amount of elevation — Meaning lots of elevation changes?
  • of the Williams — Should this be just "of Williams"? And since it is the first time it is mentioned, any reason to not use the full name?
  • he was optimistic over a continuing challenge to McLaren, and that "This is the first year we have been able to do it from the first race." — I don't really know what this means. What continuing challenge? The first year they were able to do what?
  • after it affected Herbert — What does this mean?
    • Have removed because it adds nothing to the article
Practice
  • In the first practice session, Barrichello made minor changes to the aerodynamic setup of his car, and was fastest... — Should this be "Barrichello made minor changes to the aerodynamic setup of his car before the first, and was fastest..." (the significant change being "before" rather than "in")?
  • The McLaren duo of Häkkinen and Coulthard, Michael Schumacher, Villeneuve, Prost's Jean Alesi... — This sentence makes it unclear which team some drivers are on; in particular, it seems to say that Schumacher and Villeneuve were part of a four-driver McLaren duo.
  • How many laps (or how much time) was each driver allotted per session?
    • Drivers had no limits to how many laps they could set during the practice sessions. MWright96 (talk) 07:57, 3 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
      • Were there time limits?
        • The time limits were that Friday practice sessions lasted for an hour and the Saturday sessions were 45 minutes long. For individual drivers, no time limits existed. MWright96 (talk) 07:25, 4 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
  • Michael Schumacher went faster to go second — Went faster than what?
  • he spun under braking for the Senna S chicane — I'm confused here. He under braked for the chicane, and thus spun? Or he spun under (whatever that means) while braking for the chicane? (Note that I slightly reworded this sentence for prose considerations, but am equally confused by both wordings.)
Qualifying
  • What's a "hoarding"?
  • Häkkinen went fastest with 15 minutes — So right before the heavy rain started?
  • Barrichello in fourth was slower than the McLaren cars in the second sector and lost time due to the stoppage — What is the second sector? And wouldn't everyone have lost time due to the stoppage, not just him?
  • Pedro Diniz slowed him — How?
  • How many drivers participate in each timed lap? I had thought they were done individually, but apparently not.
    • Every driver circulated the track during the qualifying session in this period of history MWright96 (talk) 07:57, 3 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
  • the falling advertising hoarding ... prompted the third stoppage — But in the paragraph above, it sounds as if this caused all three stopages.
  • De La Rosa was caught out by the change in the weather — What does "caught out" mean? And the "change in the weather" is the rain?
  • Were there any drivers who did not make the 107% cutoff?
    • No. No driver failed to make the 107 per cent cutoff during this race or the entire 2000 season MWright96 (talk) 07:57, 3 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

Warm-up

  • set laps in their spare cars — What does this mean?
  • for his teammate Fisichella — Wouldn't it be for himself?
    • No the FIA source stated that car was setup for Fisichella MWright96 (talk) 07:57, 3 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
      • Is it that Wurz needed a spare car; the spare car was at the time setup for Fisichella; so Wurz took it and had it setup for him?
        • Wurz had to take the spare car because his previous one stalled. It is not stated in any of the sources that Wurz had the spare Benetton car setup for him after it was setup for Fisichella, so I have removed that piece of information. MWright96 (talk) 07:53, 4 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
          • Got it. My confusion here was that I was reading the sentence to mean "after Wurz took the spare car, it was set up for Fisichella," rather than "Wurz took the spare car, which had previously been set up for Fisichella."
Race
  • Wurz began from the pit lane — Meaning he was getting his car fixed while the race started? Ouch.
  • He retained third as Barrichello made a slow getaway — Who retained third? Barrichello made a slow getaway from who/what?
  • He then made a driver error — What was the error?
  • lost the use of the first three gears — How?
  • Barrichello drew close to Häkkinen after the latter made a driver error — What error?
  • under braking the Senna S chicane to start the 15th lap — What does under braking mean?
Post-race
  • yearned — Is this really the right word?
  • filed a successful appeal — What were they appealing? Apparently the excessive wear was a problem, but it isn't clear why.
    • Clarified MWright96 (talk) 07:57, 3 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
      • My question is what they were appealing; did the sanctioning body say something like "there's too much wear on the boards; that's a violation of XYZ regulation; and therefore you're disqualified," and the drivers appealed that disqualification? Or something else.
  • They rejected McLaren's appeal — Was it unanimous?
  • The record for the youngest driver to score a Formula One World Championship point is currently held — I would rephrase to "as of 2020" (assuming that is still correct).
Race classification
  • Drivers who scored championship points are denoted in bold and by a ‡ — Why? It's already clear who scored points from the column marked "points."
    • It is to help with compliance with MOS:ACCESS MWright96 (talk) 07:57, 3 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
      • Got it, thanks for clarifying. I take it the ‡ has some sort of benefit beyond just being a symbol that can be seen? Otherwise, it would be duplicative since it only appears directly next to points totals, the existence of which it is intended to indicate.
Championship standings after the race
  • Given that there were only nine drivers with points, why not list them all?
