Will look at (hopefully this weekend). I have a copy of Peter Cozzens's book about Chickamagua if you'd like me to look and see if it has any further detail for the unit. Hog Farm Talk 04:10, 18 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

  • Is there a specific reason why Nashville isn't in the infobox?
  • Added
  • Done
  • "the camp was charged by Colonel John K. Jackson's battalion" - was this battalion part of the 7th AL or was it a separate unit? If a separate unit, recommend adding the state
  • It was Jackson's 3rd Battalion of Anderson's ad hoc force formed temporarily for the battle of Santa Rosa Island
  • "and one severely wounded" - the source doesn't indicate the severity of the leg wounds, so recommend just noting that he was wounded
  • Done
  • "and Company A commander Frederick H. Farrar to major" - does Bergeron indicate if this was delayed? I see the casualties report for Santa Rosa Island still lists Farrar as a company commander
  • Bergeron does not, but the Louisiana Civil War Roster service record has the promotion date of 30 September for Farrar, and Jacques for 22 October, although this wouldn't make logical sense.
  • "After the privateer schooner Judah was burned in a Union raid on the night of 13 to 14 September, Bragg launched a retaliatory sortie against the Union troops on Santa Rosa Island on the night of 8 October. Companies A and B of the 1st Louisiana formed the 400-man 2nd Battalion of the thousand-man force commanded by Brigadier General Richard H. Anderson together with three companies from the 7th Alabama and two from the 1st Florida" - the source does not support very much of this. This only partially relates to this specific article, but I'm also noting that our article on Anderson supports the Pensacola assignment (sourced to Eicher's Civil War High Commands which I don't have access to), but Warner's Generals in Gray claims that Anderson was assigned to Charleston, SC in July to replace Beauregard when Beauregard went to Virginia before Bull Run
  • This is from Bearss 1957 quoting the Official Records. If Warner says that then he's wrong.
  • Bearss definitely > than Warner. If this is going to A-class, I'd recommend tweaking the reference placement to make it a bit clearer that the whole thing is coming from Bearss. Hog Farm Talk 02:43, 20 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
  • "Out of the 231 men under Beatty's command when the attack began," - is Beatty a typo for Beattie?
  • Good catch
  • "Walthall's Brigade had "no more fight left"" - the copy of Cozzens I have has a different phrasing for the quote here?
  • Fixed. You're right, I paraphrased and ended up putting it in quotation marks
  • "leaving the Confederates in possession of a major battlefield for the first time in the Army of Tennessee's history. The gains of Chickamauga would prove illusory as the Confederates were unable to strategically exploit the battle's result" - not in the cited pages of Cozzens, which discusses Turchin driving off Walthall but not this part
  • Added ref, but rephrased and added a ref to Larry Daniel's excellent analysis
  • "the regiment was assigned as army headquarters guard during the Chattanooga campaign, reduced to less than a hundred men." - is it still consolidated with the Arkansawyers at this point?
  • No, clarified
  • I checked in Castel's Decision in the West to see if further detail for Ezra Church could be added, but Castel only really notes about Gibson's brigade that it charged, fought for an hour, and was then ordered to withdraw
  • Have added more from Salling on Ezra Church
  • "but while at Cuba station" - should station be capitalized here?
  • Fixed typo

I think that's all from me for the first pass. As a wholly unrelated question, what are your thoughts on Bergeron 1996? I'm familiar with McGhee's similar work for MO, and have thought about getting a copy of Bergeron since my inlaws are from Louisiana and there were several CSA soldiers in that part of the family. • Bergeron actually is the work that inspired McGhee and has a similar level of detail. I consider it invaluable for Louisiana unit histories. Kges1901 (talk) 02:04, 20 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
