editFlags represent Federations. If political East Germany ceased to exist on Oct 3, 1990, England ceased to exist on 1707, but I see its flag near English clubs. No need to make differences.--Ballistiq (talk) 14:11, 10 February 2019 (UTC)
- Germany was reunified, therefore the correct flag of Germany should be used. This was explained in a note at the top of the article, the remainder of the article shouldn't have the tables crowded by inline notes. No idea why you seem to be going on about England "ceasing to exist"... S.A. Julio (talk) 14:43, 10 February 2019 (UTC)
- Kingdom of England.--Ballistiq (talk) 21:54, 25 February 2019 (UTC)
- England is still a country though, unlike East Germany which was no longer a country or sovereign state. S.A. Julio (talk) 22:03, 25 February 2019 (UTC)
- England is not a sovereign state.--Ballistiq (talk) 21:16, 28 February 2019 (UTC)
- Yes, hence why I said "England is still a country", but I am not discussing sovereign states. The country of East Germany no longer existed on 3 October 1990, so the correct flag of the country in which the DFV was based should be used. S.A. Julio (talk) 22:04, 28 February 2019 (UTC)
- Who says what is a country? A sovereign state is legally defined, but everyone can choose his country. Catalans say Catalonia is their country. --Ballistiq (talk) 00:42, 5 March 2019 (UTC)
- For football this is mostly based on member associations of FIFA/UEFA. Not all members are necessarily sovereign states. But clearly East Germany was one, until reunification occurred on 3 October 1990. S.A. Julio (talk) 01:25, 5 March 2019 (UTC)
