Also, Libya's degree of direct involvement in the Rome and Vienna airport attacks may be unclear or disputed, but it's clear that Libya's praise for the attacks significantly antagonized the Reagan administration. The Berlin discotheque bombing is usually cited as the provocation which led to the 1986 U.S. attack on Libya, but I think that the Rome and Vienna airport attacks also helped pave the way...
