The numbers were given following this scheme:
1 - First Goalkeeper (Dino Zoff)
12 - Second Goalkeeper (Ivano Bordon)
22 - Third Goalkeeper (Giovanni Galli)
2 to 9 - Defenders in alphabetical order
10 to 14 - Midfielders in alphabetical order
15 to 16 - Flankers in alphabetical order
17 to 21 - Forwards in alphabetical order
Selvaggi was not a midfielder, but a forward.
