60 Minutes has been in its same time slot (CBS, Sundays, 7 PM Eastern) since its inception in September 1968. No mention of one of the longest-running shows on TV? Bill S. (talk) 10:28, 17 July 2012 (UTC)Reply
During this season, it made its debut...at 10PM ET on Tuesday nights. It did not get much of an audience in that time slot, which it was on for the next few seasons. It went into its familiar time slot in early 1972. The program went on hiatus from 1972 until December 1975, after which CBS had aired it right at 7PM on Sunday nights following the FCC's reinstatement of that timeslot during the 1975-76 season.
