Kennedy tried to force Johnson to accept him as his running mate.

What is the source for this assertion? SHJohnson (talk) 04:22, 12 July 2020 (UTC)

Many conservative Republican Congressmen?

A statement is in the article that contends that the 1964 election defeated "many conservative Republican Congressmen". This statement appears to be unsourced. Who are we talking about? In the Senate for example, Kenneth Keating lost but he was a moderate who didn't endorse Goldwater and helped break the filibuster on the Civil Rights bill. So who are we talking about?Rja13ww33 (talk) 20:47, 24 May 2021 (UTC)

Goldwater's Eligibility to be President

Under the "See also" section, there's a link to "Natural Born Citizen of the United States", with a note in parenthesis "regarding Goldwater's constitutional eligibility to be president", but as far as I can tell, this being an issue is never mentioned in the article. (At least, not without using the actual words 'eligible' or 'eligibility', vis a vis Ctrl+F.) I'm guessing this is because Goldwater was born in Arizona when it was still a territory, but shouldn't it be addressed in the article if the "See also" is going to provide a link to clarify? 147.226.236.22 (talk) 08:06, 13 May 2023 (UTC)

New Image Vote

While yes, the images for '64 are Color, they just don't look that great and so I believe they should be replaced with the Images below:

For this reason, I am holding a Vote on it. Qutlooker (talk) 22:49, 2 July 2023 (UTC)

@Qutlook: The new Goldwater image is good. However, I propose using the image currently used in Lyndon B. Johnson's infobox as it already has consensus as the preferred Oval Office portrait and he is looking directly into the camera unlike the near-profile view of the one you proposed. Jon698 (talk) 18:41, 5 July 2023 (UTC)
  • The LBJ image is also longstanding and the historical debate over the infobox images was about which Goldwater image we should use. I uploaded the higher quality image which is currently used for his page's infobox and then made LBJ's image black and white. Jon698 (talk) 18:44, 5 July 2023 (UTC)
Okey then. Cause yeah, the image for Goldwater looked terrible. Although LBJ’s is a closer image to the Election (taken in June 64). Along with both being White House portraits, so I guess an Argument could be made? Qutlooker (talk) 19:08, 5 July 2023 (UTC)

Lyndon B. Johnson Image Replaced with Walter P. Reuther Image (Inaccuracy)

Hello all,

I just wanted to throw this out there: There was a non-historically backed edit, replacing Lyndon B. Johnson, the elected 1964 president from Texas, with the Michigan official Walter P. Reuther, not from Texas, but from my state of Michigan. Please fix this as soon as possible. Thank you! APUSHMeOffACliff1776 (talk) 04:09, 23 September 2023 (UTC)
