At the time of the election Orpington was outside the boundaries of the County of London. Should this page be listed in Category:By-elections to the UK Parliament in London constituencies? Timrollpickering 02:32, 25 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

What is never mentioned about this election is that Peter Goldman was perceived as being Jewish and that the people of Orpington were anti semitic. At the time there were virtually no black or Asian families in the area. This combined with an excellent Liberal candidate from 86.7.253.53 (talk) 07:13, 6 June 2014 (UTC)Cite error: A <ref> tag is missing the closing </ref> (see the help page).</ref></ref></ref></ref>a family with a long history in the area, was why the conservatives lost.Reply
