Racial discrimination edit

Until 1955, the audience at the Sugar Bowl was segregated, and even for the 1955 game most tickets indicated that they were for white people only, with Black folks consigned to one area at the end zone. The Navy chose to ignore the ban,and distributed the tickets they had without regard to race. The Sugar Bowl reacted by rescinding segregation. (I guess they weren't prepared to take on the 13,000 people the Navy distributed tickets to!) There were no incidents at the stadium. This should be covered in the article. -- Nat Gertler (talk) 02:32, 21 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
