Driver Pseudonyms

A query was raised regarding the format of Pierre Bouillin's driving name: Levegh. In writing the articles I have endeavoured to keep the formatting consistent within an article, as well as between race-report articles. It was not uncommon in the early decades of racing for driver's to enter a race under a pseudonym, for a variety of reasons. The 1952 race was a bit unusual with so many racing pseudonyms involved: As well as 'Levegh', there were 'Heldé', 'Ippocampo', 'Martial', 'Pagnibon' and 'Rice'. George "Rice" and Pierre "Levegh" were a bit different as they entered with their regular forename.

It would not normally be an issue except that Pierre Bouillin had his pseudonym raised in high public profile due to his involvement in the 1955 Le Mans disaster. Likewise, the driver Jean-Marie Brussin, racing under the pseudonym "Mary" was killed in the 1958 Le Mans race and that name-combination would appear in motor-racing lists of racing deaths and deaths at Le Mans. It is unfortunate that Pierre Bouillin's biographical Wiki-article does not give a similar clear format in its title to distinguish the surname from the racing name, but that is probably unavoidable.

I would like to clearly distinguish those racing pseudonyms from formal names with a simple format variance. So, for internal article consistency I believe "Levegh" also needs to follow the same format Philby NZ (talk) 00:41, 13 June 2017 (UTC)
