Full protection of this page

edit

I have full-protected the page because there has been edit warring between a single editor who wants to expand it with content, even though the content they want to add is unsourced, and multiple other editors who make it into a redirect to 1949–50 United States network television schedule, even though that target article contains no information about late night programming. Please discuss and decide what should be done with this page: expand it with sourced content, keep it as a redirect, or delete it. MelanieN (talk) 00:19, 21 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

I have no issue with the page being created, and don't wan't it to be made into a redirect. Simply want the WP policy of WP:VERIFY to actually mean something.Onel5969 TT me 02:25, 21 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
BTW I found another one with no sources: 1963–64 United States network television schedule (late night). This may be a more widespread problem than I realized. -- MelanieN (talk) 15:39, 21 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
In fact it appears that many or most of the older "late night" articles have the same problem: 1960-61, 1961-62, 1963-64, 1964-65, etc. This appears to be a more general problem than this one page, and probably needs to be discussed in a more general location. -- MelanieN (talk) 15:53, 21 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Nostalgia Zone, John B123, MPGuy2824, Onel5969, Pppery, and JMyrleFuller: What do you think about this larger situation? -- MelanieN (talk) 17:27, 21 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
Hi. I actually think it's an even larger issue. These are just the articles to do with this subject. But there are thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of older articles which are unsourced or sourced only with dead links. Not sure of a proper discussion forum, however. VERIFY is a core policy of the project, and it is a bit troubling how many editors disregard it still. All those other "late night" articles should also be redirected until sourcing is provided. Or simply deleted. When an editor who has an interest to do them correctly comes along, they can do it then. Onel5969 TT me 19:52, 21 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
Fully agree with onel5969's comments, however, as most of the schedule is local programming or sign-off I doubt if it is possible to make this into a useful article. The same seems to apply to other articles in the series. --John B123 (talk) 20:53, 21 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
It sounds kinda odd since onel5969 thinks that the articles should simply be redirected or deleted. I don’t agree with that statement because these shows deserve representation in schedules. Nostalgia Zone (talk) 22:31, 21 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
Maybe in order to fix not only this article but many of the late night schedules is to not redirect or delete them. It is instead to add on sources, now since there is many of these articles editors should probably focus on 1 article. This is merely a recommendation in order to get these shows represented in schedules. Nostalgia Zone (talk) 02:49, 23 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
