Very interesting article. It is well written and goes into detail without going too far. Thank you for this article and the other articles you've written on the subject. Below are a few of my concerns as I read along; they aren't that big of a deal, but I thought I would post them here to see your comments before passing this. Thanks again!

  • Damage was heaviest there, estimated at $5 million, and there were hundreds of deaths – I do not see any reference to hundreds of deaths in Tampico, Tamaulipas. The only mention of the death-toll was from the hospital, which was 87.
  • On September 16, it is estimated that a tropical depression developed about 185 mi (300 km) east-northeast of Tobago – Quick question. Should it be was estimated or is estimated?
  • After entering the Caribbean Sea, the depression intensified into a tropical storm on September 18 – Given that the Caribbean Sea is linked in the lead, please link it in the paragraph below. Other words do follow that format. Thanks.
  • while crossing the Yucatán – I have never heard the Yucatán. Preferably change to Yucatán Peninsula, Yucatán state, or Yucatán, if possible.
    • Alright. Usually "the Yucatán" refers to the peninsula, but I'll add it for clarity. --♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 02:00, 5 August 2013 (UTC)Reply
  • Near Tampico, ship reported winds of 81 mph (130 km/h) – Is it "a ship" or "ships"?
  • The rail line was disrupted, which disrupted relief supplies from reaching the region – Though grammatically correct, disrupted is used twice; consider revising.
  • West of Tampico, the hurricane flooded the entire city of Cárdenas, killing 20 and injuring 200 people. – Just like you did with Pánuco, Veracruz, I think it would be better to write Cárdenas, San Luis Potosí, too. I initially thought Cárdenas was in Tamaulipas until I checked.
  • Initial news reports suggested a death toll of up to 5000 people – Change to 5,000.
  • and damage was estimated at $5 million – Given that the sign is for dollars and pesos, please indicate which of the two. (I know that it is indicated elsewhere, but I think it would be useful here too).
  • President Abelardo L. Rodríguez asked the governors and residents of the Mexican states to send aid. – Just out of curiosity, was it financial aid or some other form? I think specifying would be better, if possible.

I'll be reviewing sources individually for accuracy. Stay tuned, ComputerJA () 03:47, 4 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

  • Everything seems to check out. Article passes! Congrats. ComputerJA () 19:06, 5 August 2013 (UTC)Reply
