The title of the entry needs to be corrected. Acors should be Actors. I don't know how to correct the title. This page needs more info. this is a great source. --Monochrome_Monitor 18:34, 27 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

Article content and organization

edit

Hi! I am in a Professional and Technical Editing course and will be working on editing this article over the next couple of weeks. I'm currently working on the organization of the article and rephrasing/reorganizing some of the sections and their titles to help the article flow better, and will later move to working on content and citations. I'll be working on the page in my sandbox before gradually transferring it over, and it would be great to hear any suggestions or feedback from the community. Thanks! Reorganization of article content

edit

Hi! I have reorganized the existing content of the article and wanted to explain my actions and reasons on the talk page so I wouldn't crowd up the edit summary. For the "Background" section, I combined the first three subsections into one and titled it "Actors' Equity Association formation." Because this page is about the strike rather than the organization itself, and because some of the sections only included 1-2 paragraphs, combining this information into one section helps the flow of the article and help the reader distinguish what is part of the strike itself and what is not. I also slightly changed the last subsection title in this section to make it more concise/encyclopedic.

In the "Strike" section, I removed the company warfare heading because it seemed out of place, especially since it occurs prior to the beginning of the strike. Overall, I am unsure what this paragraph does in this article and section, and was going to leave it alone for now. I changed some of the subsection titles to be more descriptive/coordinated with the content, as well as following the guidelines of Wikipedia:Manual of Style, section 1.3. I also moved the final paragraph of the "beginning of the strike" section about the spread of the strike to the growth and support section.

In the "Historical Significance" section, I changed the heading title to "Impact" to help with concision and following Wikipedia:Manual of Style, section 1.3. I also removed the subsection headings because there was only one paragraph in each section, and from examining other featured/good articles similar to this topic, the different impacts are not generally split up. The paragraphs seem like they can stand on their own without their own subheading.

I'd love to hear from the community if anyone has any comments or suggestions! Slaurensk (talk) 01:03, 27 February 2019 (UTC)Reply

I have done some more research and thinking about the article and going to continue to work on reorganization of the article a bit more. I will be working on the article in my sandbox before making my changes here. There are some sections that may not have a lot of information yet but I am planning to add some from my research once I get to working on the article's content. I have made my updated reorganizational changes and will begin working on the article's content in my sandbox prior to posting it here. In doing more research about the topic, I have found some good sources and new information that I would like to add to the article. Some of the sections I've created, such as the Benefit performances and AFL involvement, do not have much information yet but I am planning to add content. Article content

edit

Hi Wikipedians, I have transferred my changes to the article's content from my sandbox to the article for the first 3 subsections of the "Background" heading. Most of these changes are minor rephrasing in order to achieve the Wikipedia encyclopedic tone and NPOV. I have also added some new information that I found that I think benefits the article in respect to depth of information. I am also adding in-line citations to the existing information if I have easily found it online; I don't have access to any of the books currently listed as sources. I will slowly be transferring the rest of my changes to the article this week, and any feedback is appreciated. One of the last changes I plan to do is add some pictures to the article. The Actors' Equity Association article has some great ones I'd like to see about using. What do you think? Slaurensk (talk) 17:24, 13 March 2019 (UTC)Reply
