This article is about the state that came into being on May 1st 1707. Therefore, to my mind, it is inappropriate and indeed misleading to include details that occurred prior to the state's creation. I believe it is sufficient to provide a hatnote making clear that for event prior to May 1st, go to the appropriate article - either 1707 in England or 1707 in Scotland.
